Raechel has been a member of various regional and national groups, including as a member of the Regional Youth Mortality Review Committee; she has served on the University of Auckland Youth Health Specialisation Advisory Group and as an Executive Member of the national Youth One Stop Shop (YOSS) network and was a Finalist in the 2020 Women of Influence Awards.

I come from a large family (5 siblings and 15 niblings) so have a huge passion for Youth and I’m extremely family focused. I moved to Kāpiti in 2018 and fell instantly in love with the Coast. I’ve worked in a mix of roles from advertising, wedding photography, administration, hospitality, in hair salons etc. before landing on my feet here at KYS. In my spare time you will find me either at the gym or exploring our beautiful outdoors.

Experience
I am a 20-year-old Councillor on the Kāpiti Coast District Council and activist from Paekākāriki. I was Service Captain, Student Rep and Head Girl at various points throughout my secondary schooling at Kāpiti College. After graduating & alongside some of my friends, we founded School Strike 4 Climate in Aotearoa NZ and went on to coordinate the movement which mobilised 170,000 people across the country in September.
