Following the completion of my Bachelors, I went overseas to travel and work for two years. On return, I continued my studies and began working at Central Regional Health School in the City. My research for my Masters involved understanding direct experiences of adolescent anxiety. During my internship I completed my placement at both Ministry of Education and KYS.

I have worked in both the general and mental health fields for many years – most recently in the Brief Intervention and Community Sectors.
I am passionate about mental health and emotional wellbeing and enjoy working with a range of rangatahi.
I love watching young people grow and develop and find their strengths and passion in life.

I spent 4 years as a youth drug and alcohol counsellor around the greater Wellington region working within schools and other social services. In 2016 I worked as a youth coach in the Porirua area and now am happy to be closer to home at KYS.

I am a registered nurse with over 20 years in the health sector, primarily mental health and addictions. Training and experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Schema Therapy and have worked in a variety of different settings here, and in the UK.
I have a particular interest in how people heal from childhood trauma, and how we make wise choices and be our best, most compassionate selves to manage our present-day life challenges.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years experience working with young people and their families.

For the last ten years I’ve studied and worked in the mental health field. As part of my Postgraduate Diploma, and my training as a Counselling Psychologist, I completed an internship placement at Anxiety NZ. When I start working with a young person, I focus on getting to know them and building connections with them, and then we can explore what’s bringing them to counselling. The main approaches that I have training and have experience in are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have a strong interest in helping people to manage anxiety, as they discover the life they want to lead and the type of person they’d like to be while facing life’s challenges.

I have over 15 years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist working in both Wellington and Auckland. I have worked across a variety of settings in both private and public health services including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and the Regional Eating Disorders Services. I am passionate about assisting people to live a life that is value-driven and meaningful for them. I take a collaborative, empathetic approach to help people develop insight, and coping strategies to manage difficult thoughts, emotions.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 5 years’ experience working with young people presenting with a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties. My approach is empathetic, warm and non-judgemental. I aim to meet people where they are at, working alongside them in a collaborative way, to help them overcome their mental health challenges and improve their wellbeing. As a psychologist, I have worked across a range of settings including community child and adolescent mental health services as well as university and psychology clinics in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

I am originally from Wellington and moved to the beautiful Kapiti Coast last year. Before KYS, I was providing counselling support to mostly young adults in an education setting. I am passionate about working with young people and supporting them with anything that’s affecting their wellbeing

I grew up on the Kāpiti Coast and left for Wellington after college to pursue my studies in Psychology. Later, I studied to become a Counsellor for those experiencing coexisting mental health and addiction. During my studies I gained experience working within mental health and addiction spaces both at a college and here at KYS.  I am a newly graduated counsellor, who is passionate about walking alongside young people and helping them get to where they want to be in life.
